Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has closed a debt financing package for its 373 MW Cleve Hill solar and 150 MW BESS project in Kent (United Kingdom). The financing package provided by Lloyds and NatWest consists of a GBP218.5m (€260m) term loan and a GBP20m (€24m) VAT facility, structured in two stages: the term loan for the solar PV component was completed in August 2024, while the loan for the BESS was finalized in March 2025. The project is currently under construction in Kent and is expected to start operations in 2025, helping to avoid more than 142 ktCO2 in its first year of operations.
The project has already secured an award through the UK’s 15-year CfD auction scheme, an offtake agreement with Tesco for 65% of the solar generation, and a 15-year Capacity Market Agreement for the BESS, for a total contracted and index linked revenues for the project of over GBP480m (€570m).
