QatarEnergy signs long-term deal to supply 1.8 Mt/year of LNG to Bangladesh

QatarEnergy has signed a long-term LNG sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) to supply Bangladesh with 1.8 Mt/year of LNG. The 15-year agreement will start in 2026.

QatarEnergy is currently the largest LNG supplier to Bangladesh and Petrobangla, delivering more than 3.5 Mt/year of LNG. Petrobangla already has a 15-year deal with QatarEnergy’s unit Qatargas for 2.5 Mt/year of LNG, which started in 2018.

QatarEnergy has signed several other LNG SPAs, notably in November 2022 when the company inked a 27-year deal with Sinopec for the supply of 4 Mt/year LNG to China and another with ConocoPhillips for the delivery of up to 2 Mt/year of LNG from Qatar to the German LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel.
