Prime Capital buys a 372 MW onshore wind project in Sweden

The German asset manager Prime Capital has acquired the 372 MW Björnberget onshore wind project in Sweden, in partnership with the Israeli independent power producer (IPP) Enlight Renewable Energy. In addition, the consortium has signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa to supply 60 of its SG 5.8-170 wind turbines (operating at 6.2 MW each) for the project. The wind power project is scheduled to start commercial operation in early 2023 and should produce 1.1 TWh/year of electricity. Prime Capital is in exclusive negotiations with a global technology company to sign a 10-12-year power purchase agreement (PPA), off taking roughly half of the project’s electricity production.

Wind power accounts for 22% of Sweden's installed capacity, with 9 GW (2019). More than 3.4 GW are currently under construction and 8.8 GW under development.
