Premier Energy completes the acquisition of CEZ Vanzare (Romania)

The Romanian gas supply and distribution company Premier Energy has completed the acquisition of CEZ Vanzare, the main electricity supplier in Southwest Romania, and a gas supplier, with a total portfolio of almost 1.2 million customers. The company will be renamed Premier Energy Furnizare. With this acquisition, Premier Energy will be active in natural gas supply and distribution, electricity production, supply and distribution and renewable (wind and solar) energy production. The company targets 1.4 to 1.6 GW of renewable capacity in the next three years.

CEZ Vanzare was previously owned by the Czech power group CEZ, which had taken over Electrica Oltenia in 2005 and sold a portfolio of companies (CEZ Vanzare, Distributie Energie Oltenia, Ovidiu Development, Tomis Team, MW Team Invest, TMK Hydroenergy Power and CEZ Romnia) to the Macquarie Asset Management fund in March 2021. In December 2023, Macquarie and Premier Energy reached an agreement on the sale of CEZ Vanzare to Premier Energy, and in April 2024, CEZ's companies in Romania were renamed EVRYO.
