US-based independent power producer PowerTransitions has finalised its acquisition of the 1.2 GW Roseton Generating Facility in Newburgh, New York (United States), from a subsidiary of Castleton Commodities International (PowerTransitions press release, 08/09/2026). The Roseton Generating Facility, a 1,242 MW dual-fuel natural gas-fired power plant, has been supplying electricity to the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) since 1974.
“Its scale and existing grid infrastructure make it an ideal candidate for co-location development into a robust energy campus, including new energy storage systems, allowing PowerTransitions to layer in new capacity to enhance reliability for the surrounding grid”, said the company.
The transaction stems from an agreement signed by the two parties earlier in 2026. Following the acquisition of Roseton, PowerTransitions now operates approximately 1.8 GW of generation capacity across eight sites in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM), NYISO and Independent System Operator-New England (ISO-NE) markets.
In July 2026, PowerTransitions completed the acquisition of five power generation facilities with a combined capacity of 323 MW.
