Potentia breaks ground on 411 MW/1560 MWh Skyview 2 BESS (Canada)

Potentia Renewables, a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Sustainable Capital (Canada), has officially broken ground on the 411 MW/1,560 MWh Skyview 2 BESS, developed in partnership with the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation, near Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). The company will handle system integration, substation work, and balance-of-plant tasks, excluding the high-voltage transformer and HV switchgear, along with the transmission line connection to the existing grid infrastructure. Commercial operation is planned for 2027.

E-Storage, as the turnkey EPC provider, will supply around 390 units of its proprietary SolBank 3.0 energy storage solution for the project. The company launched an enhanced version of its SolBank 3.0 BESS solution earlier in 2025.

Ontario has implemented significant policy changes to integrate energy storage into its electricity grid. The province’s Integrated Energy Plan aims to boost storage capacity and expand transmission networks to support distributed storage solutions.
