Port of Açu reserves land for 1 Mt/year green ammonia plant (Brazil)

The global green hydrogen company Yamna has signed a land reservation agreement with the Brazilian Port of Açu to develop a 1 Mt/year green ammonia project in the north-east of Rio de Janeiro State in Brazil. The project is to be developed within the port industrial complex of Port of Açu, in the new hub for low-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives, where a total of 2 million m2 are being reserved for green hydrogen projects. The plant is expected to reach a final investment decision (FID) by 2027, and it plans to have a production capacity of 1 Mt/year once it starts producing in 2030.

Port of Açu is privately owned by Prumo Logística and Port of Antwerp-Bruges International, and it represents one of Brazil's major oil and gas export facilities handling 40% of the country’s oil exports. Yamna seeks to strengthen its position as a global leader in the green ammonia market through the Port of Açu project.
