Poland's PGNiG signs 24-year LNG supply contract with US-based Cheniere

State-held Polish Oil and Gas Company (PGNiG) has signed a long-term agreement with Cheniere Marketing International (a subsidiary of Cheniere Energy) for LNG supplies from the United States. The contract will start in 2019 and last over a 24 years period. The volume of supplies will reach 0.52 Mt/year (0.7 bcm/year) between 2019 and 2022 and will ramp up to 1.45 Mt/year (1.95 bcm/year) starting from 2023. Between 2023 and 2042, the total import volume is slated to reach 29 Mt (39 bcm) of LNG. The total value of the deal was not released however. LNG cargoes from Cheniere Energy heading for the Świnoujście import terminal Poland will depart from the Sabine Pass (Louisiana) and Corpus Christi (Texas) liquefaction facilities.

Poland is seeking to reduce its dependence on Russian gas and signed import agreements with the US company Venture Global LNG and with the British firm Centrica LNG at the end of 2017.
