Poland’s PGNiG revises its LNG supply contracts with US suppliers

The Polish state-owned energy group PGNiG has cancelled a contract with Sempra Energy for LNG supplies from the Port Arthur LNG project in Texas (United States). In 2018, PGNiG had signed a 20-year agreement with Sempra LNG to receive 2 Mt/year from the Port Arthur LNG project starting in 2023. However, delays in the project commissioning have prompted the Polish company to sign a memorandum with Sempra to receive the volume originally contracted at Port Arthur from other Sempra export terminals, such as the existing Cameron LNG terminal in Louisiana (United States) or the Baja California terminal in Mexico (expected in 2024).

In addition, PGNiG has agreed with the US LNG group Venture Global to import an additional 2 Mt/year of LNG from the Calcasieu Pass LNG project in Louisiana (United States) for 20 years. Deliveries will start in 2023. In 2018, PGNiG agreed to import 3.5 Mt/year of LNG from Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass LNG project. PGNiG will thus import 5.5 Mt/year of LNG from Venture Global.
