Alstom has signed three contracts with a total value of approximately €10m (PLN44m) to modernise three power plants in Poland.
The company will modernise the unit 3 of the 1,492 MW Opole power plant located in Brzezie and operated by PGE Gornictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna. The contract includes a modernisation overhaul of the steam turbine and the delivery of an electrohydraulic control system. The upgrade will extend the turbine’s lifetime. The unit is scheduled to be commissioned by end 2012.
The second contract from Zespol Elektrocieplowni Wroclawskich Kogeneracja includes the delivery of a new generator rotor for unit 2 of their 110 MW Czechnica’s CHP power Plant, located in the Lower Silesia Province. This contract includes upgrading the bearings as well as the supervision of erection and commissioning of the generator. The modernisation will be completed by end 2013 and will allow faster delivery of electrical power to the grid.
The last contract from KGHM Polska Miedź involves the delivery of an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) for the Glogow Copper Smelter, also located in Lower Silesia. The installation should be completed by mid 2014.
Alstom already received orders worth approximately €65m for the modernisation of the Polaniec power plant in April 2012 as well as contracts worth €15m to upgrade the Kozienice and Lodz coal-fired power plants (March 2012).
