Poland plans to build a third LNG import terminal, using a 6.1 bcm/year FSRU

The Polish natural gas system operated Gaz-System has decided to build a second FSRU terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk with an import capacity of 6.1 bcm/year, after conducting an Open Season procedure that confirmed market interest in the project (Gaz-System press release, 24/06/2025). The project is in the preparatory stage and the tentative completion date is scheduled for 2027-2028.

Poland has currently two LNG imports terminal: the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście and the FSRU 1 Terminal in Gdańsk, with a combined capacity of 13.9 bcm/year. The third LNG import terminal will thus raise Poland's LNG import capacity to 20 bcm/year.

In 2025, Poland imported 18.7 bcm of natural gas, including 45% of LNG (8.5 bcm).
