Poland picks EDF’s Arabelle solutions for 3.75 GW Choczewo nuclear project

Arabelle Solutions, a subsidiary of the French group EDF, has been selected by the US Westinghouse–Bechtel consortium to supply equipment for Poland’s first nuclear power plant. The company will deliver three steam turbine–generator sets for the facility planned in the municipality of Choczewo, in northern Poland. The selection was confirmed by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ), the Polish state-owned company in charge of the project’s development (Arabelle press release, 13/01/2026).

The project is based on an agreement signed in September 2023 between Poland and the US consortium. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026. The plant will have a total installed capacity of up to 3.75 GW, spread across several AP1000 reactors. The first unit, with a capacity of up to 1.25 GW, is expected to enter operation in 2033.

Under Poland’s National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), nuclear power is expected to reach around 7.7 GW of installed capacity by 2040, accounting for approximately 19% of the electricity mix. The Choczewo project represents the first phase of Poland’s large-scale nuclear power program (Enerdata Global Energy Research).
