Poland imported 5.8 bcm of LNG in 2022

PGNiG, an affiliate of the Polish energy group PKN Orlen, imported 4.4 Mt of LNG (around 5.8 bcm) through the Świnoujście terminal in Poland. Out of 58 LNG shipments in Świnoujście, 36 cames from the United States and 18 from Qatar.  Poland's first LNG regasification terminal, Polskie LNG, located in Świnoujście with a capacity of 5 bcm/year started operating in 2016, and should be expanded to 8.3 bcm/year in 2023.

In April 2022, Gazprom halted gas supplies to Poland under the Yamal contract, due to absence of payment in roubles as of 1 April 2022, as requested by the company. Poland depends on Russian gas imports for most of their gas supply: the 10.2 bcm/year contract between the Polish gas group PGNiG and Gazprom covers around 50% of Poland's gas demand.
