Poland & Denmark connect their gas networks through the Baltic Pipe project

Gaz-System and Energinet have connected the Baltic Gas offshore gas pipeline to the Danish transmission network in Faxe, Denmark, and to the Polish transmission system in Pogorzelica, integrating the gas networks of the two countries. The project is expected to be fully commissioned on 1 October 2022. The European Commission has granted the investment the "Project of Common Interest" status. The project has received financial support from the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

The Polish gas transmission system operator Gaz-System and its Danish counterpart Energinet, which took a final investment decision (FID) in December 2018, are developing the 10 bcm/year Baltic Pipe gas pipeline. The pipeline is to be made of five parts: one 105-110 km offshore pipeline in the North Sea between the Norwegian and the Danish gas transmission systems across, then a 210-230 km gas transmission section and a compressor station onshore in Denmark, a 275 km offshore pipeline between Denmark and Poland across the Baltic Sea and finally a 230-340 km onshore gas transmission pipeline in Poland.
