The Polish power utility PGE, through its affiliate PGE Gryfino, along with a consortium comprising General Electric Global Services, Polimex Mostostal, and GE Vernova, have reached a settlement agreement regarding the construction of two gas-steam units, each with a capacity of 683 MW, at PGE Gryfino 2050 in Nowe Czarnowo, Gryfino, Zachodniopomorskie (northern Poland). Unit 9 is scheduled to be commissioned in August 2024, and Unit 10 in September 2024. This settlement was mediated by the Court of Arbitration at the General Prosecutor's Office of Poland.
PGE is operating four coal-fired units at the Dolna Odra power plant, with a total capacity of 908 MW (2 x 222 MW and 2 x 232 MW). Four coal-fired units were previously retired. A gas transmission pipeline between Przywodzie and Dolna Odra was commissioned in September 2023, enabling the plant to be supplied from the LNG import terminal in Świnoujście via the existing DN 700 Szczecin-Lwówek gas pipeline and the DN 1000 Goleniów-Lwówek gas pipeline, built as part of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline project.
