PGE seeks to obtain control of two key energy projects in Poland

The Polish energy group Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) and ZE PAK have signed an agreement to determine the terms and conditions for the purchase by PGE of two project companies owned by ZE PAK, namely ZE PAK’s 100% of shares in PAK CCGT and 50% of shares in PGE PAK Energia Jądrowa.

In line with the strategic directions of PGE Group's development, the company had previously announced its interest in acquiring PAK CCGT’s gas project at the Adamów Power Plant (a 560-600 MW CCGT unit and accompanying infrastructure) and PGE PAK Energia Jądrowa’s 2.8 GW nuclear power project in the Konin region. The agreement will have to go through due diligence from both parties as a condition before concluding the deal.

PGE, Polska Grupa Energetyczna (60.8% state-owned), is Poland’s main power generator, with a capacity of 17.8 GW and a generation of 57 TWh in 2023 (i.e. 37% of total production in 2023).
