PGE and Ørsted pick contractor for Poland’s 2.5 GW Baltica offshore wind farm

Polish utility Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) and Denmark’s Ørsted, have selected a consortium of Ramboll Polska, the Polish arm of Danish consulting and engineering firm Ramboll, and Poland’s Projmors Maritime Construction Design Office as contractors to prepare the construction of the 2.5 GW Baltica 2 and 3 offshore wind farms in Poland.

The contractor, chosen as part of a competitive tender process, will be responsible for preparing design documentation for foundations, turbines, internal cables and offshore power stations. Its remit will also cover obtaining a building permit for the maritime part of the offshore wind project. Work under the contract should be completed by the third quarter of 2023.

The Baltica offshore wind project is divided into two phases, the 1 GW Baltica 3 phase, scheduled to go online in 2026 and the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 phase, expected to be commissioned in 2027.
