The Chinese oil and gas company PetroChina has put into operation the gas processing plant at the Bozidabei gas condensate field located in the Tarim Basin, in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region of western China. Bozidabei, which is China’s largest onshore gas condensate field, includes a gas processing plant, a condensate stabiliser, and an oil and a gas export pipeline. The full commissioning of the gas processing plant will increase the field's production capacity from 5 bcm/year to 12 bcm/year.
PetroChina has drilled 15 ultra-deep wells at the field since the start of 2023, bringing the total number of wells to more than 100 across the 13,000 km2 field. The company expects to produce 9 bcm of gas and 600 kt of condensate at the site in 2023. Another 18 ultra-deep wells are expected to be drilled and the field is projected to produce 10 bcm/year of gas and 1.02 Mt/year of condensate by 2025.
