Petrobras's new FPSO starts production in the Buzios field (Brazil)

The Brazilian oil and gas group Petrobras has announced the start of production of its FPSO Almirante Tamandaré (Búzios 7) in the Búzios field, located in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin off Brazil. A total of 15 wells will be connected to the platform through a subsea infrastructure, enabling to produce up to 225,000 bbl/d of oil and to process up to 12 mcm/d of gas (4.4 bcm/year). Petrobras has already launched sixth production systems in the Buzios area, which is expected to become Petrobras' largest production field, targeting 1 mb/d in the second half of 2025 and 2 mb/d by 2030. The Búzios consortium is composed of Petrobras (operator), the Chinese partner companies CNOOC and CNODC, and PPSA,

In 2024, Petrobas’ oil and gas production declined by 3% in 2024 to 2.7 mboe/d, with 2.15 mboe/d of oil (-4%) and 0.51 mboe/d of gas (-2%). The production volume in pre-salt represents 81% of the total production in 2024 (1.8 mboe/d).
