Petrobras will lease its Bahia LNG import terminal in Brazil

Petrobras has started the process of leasing its LNG regasification terminal of Bahia (TR-BA) and its integrated gas pipeline located in Salvador, in the state of Bahia (Brazil), and will begin the prequalification procedure of the candidates.

The LNG facility consists of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), the Golar Winter supplied by Excelerate Energy, with a capacity of 5.1 bcm/year that will not be included in the lease process. The FSRU delivers gas to an onshore terminal and to an integrated 45 km gas pipeline connecting to the main gas network at two delivery points.

The Brazilian state-owned oil and gas company, which is heavily indebted, aims at improving its capital allocation. The group recently completed the sale of its gas transportation subsidiary Transportadora Associada de Gás (TAG) to ENGIE and the Canadian fund Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ).
