Petrobras has begun operations earlier than planned on its platform ship Maria Quitéria in the Jubarte field, in the Campos Basin (Brazil). Originally planned to come online in 2025, the FPSO platform has the capacity to produce up to 100 kb/d of oil and to process up to 5 mcm/d of gas. It will be connected to a total of eight producing wells and eight injectors. It is also equipped with technologies to reduce by about 24% operational emissions of GHG. The unit also has the capacity to generate 100 MW of energy, enough to supply a city of 230 thousand inhabitants.
The Jubarte field was discovered in 2001 and is part of the integrated project of the Parque das Baleias area, with Petrobras as its sole holder of production rights. The FPSO Maria Quitéria will correspond to about 40% of the field's production when working at full load.
At the end of 2023, Brazil had proven reserves of oil and condensates estimated at 2 Gt and gas reserves at 406 bcm.
