Peru will invest $2bn in energy and hydrocarbons in 2012-2013

The Peruvian Agency for the Promotion of Private Investment (ProInversión) estimates at $2bn investments through concessions in electricity and hydrocarbon sectors between 2012 and 2013. Energy projects already under development total $1.22bn, while concession projects total $4.6bn.



Investments in network include $130m for the Cajamarca-Moyabamba Carhuaquero transmission line (tender in October 2012 with four interested companies), $345m for the Moyabamba-Iquitos transmission line (tender in the last quarter of 2012 with six interested companies) and $70m for the Machupicchu-Quencoro-Onocora-Tintaya transmission lline (tender in December 2012, with eight interested companies).

Investments in generation capacities include $600m for the Molloco hydropower plant (tender in late 2012, 14 companies interested) and in Iquitos ($75m).



About $790m should be invested in hydrocarbon-related projects, while investments in concessions amount to $1.16bn. Thee tender for the supply system of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to Lima and Callao will require an investment of $90m. Gasification projects would require an investment of $300m, while LNG supply projects could reach $400m.
