Peru's state-owned Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinversión) has awarded the OA consortium the initiative “Group 1” of power transmission projects. The Group 1, which will require an estimated investment of US$329m, consists of three projects aimed at improving the quality of the electricity transmission system in the south of Peru, namely the “New Hub Substation – Poroma and 500 kV Link Hub Poroma – Colectora", the “New San José Hub Substation – First Stage and 220 kV Link Hub San José – Repartition (Arequipa)" and the “New Marcona II Substation and 138 kV Marcona II Link – San Isidro (Bella Unión) – Pampa (Chala)”. The OA consortium (Omega Peru Operaciones y Mantenimiento and Concesiones Perú Holdings Transmision I) offered a lower total service cost per year for three projects (US$27.4m) compared to other 4 bidders, and will now be responsible for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the project for a 30-year period.
Proinversion aims to award 15 electricity projects for US$941m during 2024 through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), for the benefit of 8 million inhabitants of the Peruvian cities of Ancash, Junín, Ucayali, Apurimac, Puno, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Ica and Lima.
