Peru approves 3 concessions for renewable projects totalling 524 MW

The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines has granted two concessions and one temporary concession for studies of three renewable projects. It includes the definitive concession in favour of Kallpa Generación to develop the 204 MW "Central Solar Fotovoltaica Sunny" solar project, located in the district of La Joya, Arequipa region. In addition, the company Hidroeléctrica América secured the definitive concession to develop the “Central 20 MW Hidroeléctrica Pachachaca 2” project. Finally, the government authorised the company Zeus Energía to carry out feasibility studies for the “Parque Eólico Huáscar” wind project with an estimated installed capacity of 300 MW, located in the province of Paita, Piura region.

Renewables accounts for 40% of Peru's capacity, with 36% of hydro (5.4 GW), 2% of wind (aroud 380 MW) and 2% of solar (290 MW).
