Peru approves 13 renewable projects (430 MW)

The Peruvian public institution supervising investments in energy and mining, Organismo Supervisor de la Inversión en Energía y Minería (Osinergim), has approved 13 renewable projects with a combined capacity of 430 MW and an expected generation of 1.7 TWh/year.

Osinergmin received 111 bids and approved two solar PV projects with a combined capacity of 185 MW at an average price of US$48.09/MWh, three wind projects with a combined capacity of 162 MW at an average price of US$37.79/MWh, six hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 80 MW at an average price of US$43.86/MWh, and two small biomass and waste projects (4 MW) at an average price of US$77/MWh.

Enel Green Power has been awarded the right to sign 20-year energy supply contracts for 126 MW wind power, 180 MW solar PV and 20 MW of hydro capacity. With 326 MW awarded in the tender, the company will become the main renewable player in Peru by 2018.

The winning projects will be located in the departments of Ancash, Cajamarca, Ica, Lima, Moquegua and San Martin. Commercial operation is expected in December 2018.
