Pemex receives CNH approval to develop two oil fields in Mexico

The Mexican oil and gas regulator CNH (Comisión Nacional de Hidrocarburos) has approved the development of two oil fields by state-owned oil company Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as modifications in the development plans for the Rebasa field and Murphy Sur project in the Salina del Istmo region. CNH approved the drilling of the Tetl-1001EXP exploratory well as well, in which Pemex plans to invest MXP1.17bn (US$59m).

Following these approvals, Pemex has 12 of its 20 priority development plans sanctioned. They will require a total investment of US$6.43bn and will add around 235,000 bbl/d of oil and 797 mcf/d (22.5 mcm/d) of gas. The Teekit field located off the coast of the states of Veracruz and Tabasco should produce a total of 20.3 mbl of oil and 10 bcf of gas (over 280 mcm), while the Cibix field located off Tabasco is expected to produce 13 mbl of oil and 33 bcf (930 mcm) of gas.
