Pembina secures US$2.3bn deal for Enbridge's stakes in 3 JVs (Canada)

The Canadian transportation and storage company Pembina Pipeline has announced the final clearance from the Canadian Competition Bureau for a CAD3.1bn (US$2.3bn) deal to acquire Enbridge's interests in three different joint ventures in Canada. The Canadian Competition Bureau confirmed that the Commissioner of Competition does not intend to challenge the acquisition by Pembina of Enbridge’s interest in the Alliance Pipeline, Aux Sable, and NRGreen joint ventures by sending a "no-action letter". The completion of the transaction is scheduled on 1 April 2024.

The involved companies own infrastructure that transports oil and gas to markets from the resource-rich Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Alliance operates a 3,849 km gas transmission system between British Columbia, Northwest Alberta (Canada) and the Bakken region to Chicago (United States) with a capacity of 48 mcm/d. Aux Sable owns a processing complex in the US able to process 131 mb/d of natural gas liquids from a gas stream of 60 mcm/d, and it has the exclusive right to extract NGLs from the rich gas transported by Alliance. NRGreen operates five waste heat recovery units in Canada.
