The North American energy group Pattern Energy Group has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Cordelio Power, an independent power producer (IPP) with presence in Canada and the United States (Pattern Energy press release, 06/01/2026).
- The transaction is expected to increase Pattern Energy’s presence in the North American market thanks to its 1.55 GW portfolio of operating and in-construction asset portfolio and its experienced team.
- The portfolio is comprised of 16 wind, solar and storage projects.
- The deal is subject to customary regulatory approvals, and it is expected to close in in the first quarter of 2026.
Cordelio Power is wholly owned by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), the majority shareholder of Pattern Energy, and the deal is expected to increase its ownership stake in Pattern Energy once closed.
Pattern Energy has over 30 facilities across North America, with nearly 10 GW of operating and under-construction assets.
