Pattern Energy has completed its 1,050 MW Western Spirit wind project, which consists of four wind parks in Guadalupe, Lincoln and Torrance counties in central New Mexico (United States). The 377 wind turbines ranging from 2.3 to 2.8 MW in size for the project were supplied by GE Renewable Energy. Construction started in January 2021.
In December 2021, Pattern Energy and the New Mexico Renewable Energy Transmission Authority (RETA) brought online the Western Spirit Transmission line in New Mexico. The 155-mile (249 km), 345 kV transmission line, developed jointly by Pattern Energy and RETA, will collect up to 800 MW of wind power from central New Mexico and connect it to the electric grid managed by Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) near Albuquerque.
