Singaporean energy company, PacificLight, has awarded Mitsubishi Power and Jurong Engineering Limited with an EPC contract for the development of a 670 MW CCGT power plant in Singapore (PacificLight press release, 23/010/2025).
- The project will use Mitsubishi’s M701JAC gas turbine with hydrogen co-firing potential, which should “have the ability to operate on 30% hydrogen and will be capable of shifting to run entirely on hydrogen in future”.
- The CCGT project also pans to have an integrated large-scale BESS.
The project is expected to start operations by 2029, and it should generate enough power to supply 965,000 Singaporean homes.
According to Enerdata’s Global Energy Database, Singapore had a total installed capacity of 12.4 GW of which CCGT accounted for about 85% (end of 2024).
