The Swedish renewable project developer OX2 has signed an agreement to build and divest a 455 MW wind project in Lestijärvi, in Finland, to a consortium of Kymppivoima (65%), Oulun Energia (25%) and Kuopion Energia (10%) for about €650m. In February 2021, OX2 had signed an agreement to acquire the project from the Finnish construction company YIT; the company had already secured building permits for the power plant, a new substation and a 55-km long 400 kV power line to evacuate power generation to the transmission grid. Under the new agreement, OX2 will immediately start building the Lestijärvi project, that will encompass 69 turbines totalling 455 MW, under a tailored fixed price agreement. Commissioning is scheduled in 2025 and the project should generate about 1.3 TWh/year. OX2 will be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the project under a 15-year agreement.
