OTEK plans building a 150 MW wind park in southern Russia

OTEK (United Thermal Energy Company), a subsidiary of Russian energy group Rosatom, has started the design stage of the 150 MW Adygea 1,2 and 3 wind parks in the Shovgenovsky and Giaginskiy districts in the Adygea region of Russia, through its subsidiary VetrOGK .

This will be Russia's most powerful wind project in terms of installed capacity. A joint venture will be established in 2017 with the Dutch power plant manufacturer Lagerwey. The required investment for the facility is expected to amount between Rub12bn and Rub 20bn (US$210m - US$360m).

The project will enter the construction phase in December 2018 and is expected to be commissioned in 2019. When operational, the project should generate 300 GWh/year.

VetroOGK plans to commission 610 MW of wind power on the Russian territory in 2018-2019, of which 150 MW in 2018 (the aforementioned park), 200 MW in 2019 and 260 MW in 2020. All the wind facilities will be located in the Adygea, Rostov, Stavropol and Krasnodar regions. This capacity is expected to amount 17% of the country's renewable energy capacity projected by 2024 in Russia.
