Osaka Gas (Japan) takes part to Taichung LNG terminal expansion in Taiwan

The Taiwanese oil and gas group CPC has awarded a Front End Engineering & Design (FEED) study and technical consulting services contract to Daigas Gas and Power Solution (DGPS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Japanese gas utility Osaka Gas, for the fourth phase of the Taichung LNG import terminal in north-western Taiwan. The Taichung LNG import terminal was commissioned in 2009 with a capacity of 3 Mt/year (4.1 bcm/year) and its capacity was soon raised to 4.5 Mt/year (6.1 bcm/year). In 2020, the capacity was raised again by 0.5 Mt/year to 5 Mt/year (6.75 bcm/year). The expansion project aims to add four LNG storage tanks of 180,000 m3 each, associated gasification capacities and a new jetty, to raise the regasification capacity of the terminal to 13 Mt/year (17.55 bcm/year) as of 2029.
