Ørsted & CIP will develop 4 offshore wind projects totalling 5.2 GW (Denmark)

The Danish companies Ørsted and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have teamed up to develop 5.2 GW of offshore wind in Denmark across four projects. The projects will be developed through an open-door procedure where the developers take initiative to build an offshore wind park without a government tender.

Two of the projects will be located in the Baltic Sea - Bornholm Bassin Syd (1.5 GW) and Bornholm Bassin Øst (1.5 GW)- and the other two will be located in the North Sea – Jyske Banke Nord (1.1 GW) and Vikinge Banke (1.1 GW). The projects could become operational in 2027 or 2028.

At the end of 2021, offshore wind represented 16% of Denmark’s installed capacity with 2.9 GW (4.6 GW for onshore wind). The country has 4.5 GW of wind projects under development. In June 2022, Denmark increased its offshore wind target for 2030 from 8.9 GW to 12.9 GW.
