Ørsted and PS Renewables propose 500 MW solar park in East Yorkshire (UK)

Danish energy group Ørsted and UK-based renewable project developer PS Renewables have partnered on a 500 MW solar project in the East Riding of Yorkshire, capable of powering up to 160,000 homes annually once operational (PS Renewables press release, 14/04/2026).

  • The scheme represents a revised version of the Kingfisher Solar Park, which Ørsted announced in January 2025. The updated plans feature a new site boundary, a new partner, and a new project name.
  • The Clean Air Solar Park will span across two sites near Beverley. It will connect to the planned Wanlass Beck substation, an extension of the existing Creyke Beck substation.

The partners will conduct a series of public consultations before submitting an application for a Development Consent Order (DCO), required as the project qualifies as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). The consultation process will run from June to autumn 2026. A planning decision is targeted for 2028, with commissioning expected in 2033, subject to approval.

This marks the second large solar park reaching a major milestone in the United Kingdom within a few days, following the recent announcement about EDF's Springwell solar park (800 MW), which secured a Development Consent Order (DCO) from the UK government, enabling the project to progress toward construction (KEI, 10/04/2026).
