Orlen has announced that its 1.2 GW Baltic Power has delivered first power to the Polish grid for the first time (Orlen press release, 10/07/2026). Poland’s first offshore wind project in the Baltic Sea, the Baltic Power project is expected to start the commissioning process with the testing of its turbines, with them starting to feed the grid until the project reaches its target 1.2 GW capacity. According to Orlen, the installation its at more than 22% complete, with 54 of the 76 turbines (15 MW each) having been installed, as well as all the inter-array and export cables, and the completion of the onshore infrastructure being ready.
Once completed, the PLN380bn (USD100bn) project should generate about 4 TWh/year of electricity, or about 3% of Poland’s current electricity demand. Electricity generated through the project is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 2.8 MtCO2/year.
