Ore Energy delivers 100-hour LDSE pilot project for EDF France

Dutch startup Ore Energy has announced the completion of its 100-hour iron-air long-duration energy storage (LDES) pilot project at EDF Lab les Renardières in Écuelles, France (Ore Energy press release, 10/02/2026). The pilot project, described by the company as “the first of its kind in Europe”, aims to gather operational data under live grid conditions, expecting to demonstrate that the technology can deliver scalable, multi-day storage.

The project was delivered under the European Union’s Storage Research Infrastructure Eco-System (StoRIES) programme, and it should showcase the potential for integrating iron-air systems into existing distribution networks.

Ore Energy is a developer of long duration energy solutions based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Through the engineering of its iron-air battery, the company seeks to provide long-term cost-effective and environmentally conscious battery solutions for renewable energy.
