ONE Nuclear has announced that it is advancing its Project Amberjack, a small modular reactor (SMR) project in Louisiana (United States), into technical and environmental evaluation. The project is being developed as a standalone, scalable, multi-unit SMR campus, targeting up to 1 GW of advanced nuclear generation capacity. The next phase will focus on conducting additional studies to meet the requirements of a fully licensable site and prepare for engagement with the US nuclear regulatory commission (NRC) and other agencies.
Having achieved site control, the company has completed a substantive body of preliminary development work to advance Project Amberjack, including initial nuclear siting and constraints analyses, prepared supporting assessment memoranda and siting screens, and developed conceptual layouts for a dedicated SMR campus.
In late August 2026, ONE Nuclear Energy secured site control to develop its 2.9 GW Project Cayman gas-fired power project coupled with a 700 MW/2.9 GWh BESS and a co-located data centre campus in Louisiana, having signed a binding letter of intent (LOI) with a local landowner group for the project site, located near the RiverPlex MegaPark and northeast of SpaceX’s recently announced infrastructure expansion.
