OMV and TotalEnergies make acquisition in the Romanian solar market

The Romanian oil company OMV Petrom, controlled by Austria’s OMV, has signed an agreement for the purchase of several projects for the construction of solar PV parks with an installed capacity of 710 MW in Teleorman county in Romania. The projects are being developed by the Danish developer Jantzen Renewables and have already been granted access to the Romanian electricity transmission network. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter 2024, when the projects will reach the ready-to-build phase. It will help OMV Petrom reach its target of at least 1 GW of renewable power capacity by 2030.

Meanwhile, Germany’s PNE has agreed to sell five solar PV projects in Romania with a total capacity of 208 MW to TotalEnergies. PNE is responsible for further project development until it is ready for construction. The transaction parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
