Nama Power and Water Procurement (Nama PWP), Oman’s state-owned sole electricity offtaker, has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) covering approximately 2.7 GW of renewable energy and storage capacity with the local integrated clean energy platform O-Green (O-Green statement, 17/05/2026).
The hybrid renewable energy project will integrate solar PV, wind power, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to deliver stable green electricity to Oman’s national grid. “The project marks a key milestone in the evolution of Oman’s renewable energy ecosystem and the transition toward integrated energy systems capable of supporting future industries, data centres, advanced computing, and green fuels”, according to the O-Green press release.
This project is part of Oman’s broader energy transition strategy under Oman Vision 2040, which seeks to scale up clean energy deployment and reduce carbon emissions across industrial sectors.
The agreement was concluded via Naqaa Sustainable Energy’s O-Green platform in partnership with Nama PWP. Through its O-Green platform, Naqaa manages a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 11 GW of solar and wind capacity in Oman.
Oman plans to commission several renewable energy projects between 2027 and 2029, including the 400 MW Al Kamil Solar IPP (2027), the 800 MW Mahout Wind IPP (2028), and the 1 GW Solar IPP (2029), among others. The country aims to reach 30–40% of total electricity generation by 2030, rising to approximately 60–70% by 2040, and to achieve net-zero by 2050 (KEI, 27/01/2026).
