Octopus starts building a 300 MW solar+storage project in Australia

Octopus Australia has officially started building its AUD900m (USD640m) Blind Creek solar park and battery project in Bungendore, New South Wales (Australia). The project combines a 300 MW solar PV park and a 243 MW/486 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), producing firm renewable electricity. Wärtsilä Energy Storage will supply the BESS, while EPC contractor GRS will handle construction. The project is expected to be fully operational in 2028.

In addition, the New South Wales (NSW) Independent Planning Commission has approved Edify Energy's Burroway solar+storage project located 18 km north of Narromine within the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone. The hybrid project will include a 100 MW solar park and a 100 MW/400 MWh BESS. Construction is expected to start in 2026-2027.
