NTPC floats EPC tender for 1.2 GW of solar projects in southern India

NTPC Renewable Energy, the renewable subsidiary of the Indian thermal power producer NTPC, has issued a tender for an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package for the development of up to 1,200 MW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar PV projects in Karnataka, in southern India. Each project will have a capacity of 50 MW and higher in multiples of 10 MW, with a maximum capacity of 600 MW. The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, and commissioning of grid-connected solar PV projects located near Gadag and Koppal districts in Karnataka. Bids will have to be submitted by 24 December 2021.

In April 2021, NTPC initiated aother tender for up to 1,200 MW of grid-connected solar projects in Rajasthan; project developers were allowed to bid for a minimum capacity of 10 MW, and up to a maximum of 600 MW until 21 May 2021. The same month, the group also launched a tender to develop 600 MW of grid-connected hybrid wind-solar power projects in India; developers could compete for at least 50 MW to 600 MW in 10 MW multiples.
