NTE Energy will develop three CCGT projects (2 GW) in the US

US energy utility NTE Energy has announced that it would develop three gas-fired CCGT power projects in the United States, with a combined capacity of around 2,000 MW, for a total investment of approximately US$2bn.

NTE Energy will invest US$500m to develop the 500 MW Killingly Energy Center in Killingly, Connecticut, and the same amount to develop the 500 MW Reidsville Energy Center in Rockingham County, North Carolina. Both projects are expected to power around 450,000 homes.

NTE Energy will also invest more than US$900m in the 1,000 MW Pickaway Energy Center, located in Pickaway County, Ohio. The project is expected to power around 800,000 homes.

The facilities are scheduled to begin construction between 2017 and 2018, and are expected to reach full commercial operation between 2020 and 2021.

NTE Energy is already building two other gas-fired CCGT projects, 475 MW Kings Mountain Energy Center (gas turbines ordered to MHPS in March 2016), located in Cleveland County, North California, and the 700 MW Middletown Energy Center, located in Butler County, Ohio, with expected commercial operation in 2018 (gas turbine ordered to MHPS in September 2015). The group plans to start building its 230 MW Pecan Creek Energy Center CCGT project, located in West Texas, in the fall of 2016.
