NR Electric commissions 1,000 kV Ximeng-Shandong power line in China

Chinese T&D equipment provider NR Electric has put the 1,000 kV Ximeng - Shandong UHVAC transmission project in China into commercial service, after 72 hours’ commissioning operation.

The Ximeng-Shandong project is the first UHVAC transmission project in Northern China, including three newly constructed substations in Ximeng, Langfang (Hebei) and Jinan (Shandong) respectively, and one series compensation station in Chengde (Hebei). The completion of the project will ease the power shortage in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong provinces.

Overall, the National Energy Administration (NEA) of China plans to build 12 cross-regional transmission channels, including four UHV AC and four UHV DC lines conducted by the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). The four 1000 kV UHVAC lines are Ximeng-Shandong, Yuheng-Shandong, Huainan-Nanjing-Shanghai and West Inner Mongolia-Tianjin. The four 800 kV UHVDC lines are Inner Mongolia (Shanghaimiao)-Shandong, Ximeng-Jiangsu, Ningdong-Zhejiang and Shanxi-Jiangsu.
