Novatek's gas production rose by 3% to 80 bcm in 2021 (Russia)

The Russian LNG producer Novatek has released its 2021 results, posting a net income of RUB433bn (US$5.8bn, x6 compared to 2020); the group benefited from improved macroeconomic conditions, an increase in hydrocarbon prices, as well as the launch of new production facilities. Novatek's hydrocarbon production increased by 3% in 2021 to 626 Mboe, including 79.9 bcm of natural gas (+3.3%) and 12.3 Mt of liquids (+0.5%). Novatek sold 76 bcm of natural gas in 2021 (stable), including 67.9 bcm in Russia (+1.8%) and 7.9 bcm on international markets (-11%) as more LNG from Yamal LNG was purchased under long-term contracts. Sales of liquids increased by 1% in 2020 to 16.6 Mt, with stable gas condensate sales and crude oil sales declining by 12.5%.
