Northland secures financing for 300 MW/1.2 GWh BESS portfolio (Poland)

Canadian independent power producer Northland Power has secured PLN500m (EUR114m) for the development of two BESS projects with a combined capacity of 300 MW/1.2 GWh in Poland (Northland Power press release, 30/09/2026).

Northland Power acquired the portfolio in 2025 from Greenvolt Power and it is comprised of the 200 MW/800 MWh Mieczysławów and the 100 MW / 400 MWh Kamionka projects in western Poland, both under construction. Once operational, the facilities are expected to be among Poland's first utility-scale standalone battery storage plants.

The projects have also received approximately PLN280m (EUR64m) in grants from Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and are expected to represent a total investment of about PLN1bn (EUR228m). Additionally, part of the projects' revenues will be supported by 17-year inflation-indexed capacity market agreements, with additional income expected from energy arbitrage and ancillary services.
