French wind power project company EMDT (Eoliennes en Mer Dieppe-Le Tréport) has received the required prefectoral authorization to move forward with the 496 MW Dieppe-Le Tréport offshore wind project, to be located off Dieppe in northwestern France. The company may now move forward with preparing the construction of the project and proceeding with the calls to tender for subcontractors to manufacture and install the wind park's components.
This announcement comes a few months after the approval of a similar project to be located off the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier , i.e. the 496 MW Noirmoutier-Yeu offshore wind park, operated by EMYN (Eoliennes en Mer Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier). The French government also endorsed the two projects in November 2018.
EMYN and EMDT are both partnerships between the French energy utility Engie (47%), EDP Renewables (43%) and Groupe Caisse des Dépôts (10%). Each project will feature 62 Siemens-Gamesa turbines rated 8 MW each. They will break ground later in 2019 with commissioning scheduled in 2021; both projects have to be commissioned by July 2024, or their authorisation will be withdrawn. Once operational, they should each generate approximately 2 TWh/year.
