Nordex SE receives firm order for 1 GW of wind turbines for an Australian project

Nordex SE has received a firm order for the supply and installation of 180 Nordex N163/5.X wind turbines for Acciona Energía’s 1,026 MW MacIntyre wind project at Cement Mills in the state of Queensland (Australia). The project received the approval of the State Assessment and Referral Agency of Queensland in April 2021. The complex includes two projects: the 923 MW MacIntyre wind plant and the 103 MW Karara wind plant. The MacIntyre project will be built, owned and operated by Acciona in partnership with Ark Energy Corporation (part of Korea Zinc), which acquired a 30% stake in the plant in March 2021. The AUD1.96bn (US$1.5bn) project will supply CleanCo with 400 MW through a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and will negotiate with other potential offtakers and investors to conclude additional PPAs. The 103 MW Karara wind plant will be built by Acciona and transferred to CleanCo.
