Acciona Energía is about to award a contract to Nordex SE for the supply and installation of 180 Nordex N163/5.X wind turbines for Acciona Energía’s 1,026 MW MacIntyre wind project at Cement Mills in the state of Queensland (Australia). The project received the approval of the State Assessment and Referral Agency of Queensland in April 2021. It comprises the 923 MW MacIntyre wind plant, which will be built, owned and operated by Acciona in partnership with Ark Energy Corporation (part of Korea Zinc) that will own 30% in the project, and the 103 MW Karara wind plant, which should be transferred to CleanCo, the Queensland government energy producer. The AUD1.96bn (US$1.5bn) project will supply CleanCo with 400 MW through a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and will negotiate with other potential offtakers and investors to conclude additional PPAs.
