Noen announces 300 MW/900 MWh of BESS projects in France and Japan

Neoen has signed a contract with the Japanese group Nidec ASI for the construction of its 248 MW/496 MWh Vernou-la-Celle-sur-Seine BESS in France, to be connected to RTE’s 400 kV high voltage transmission network. Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026, with the asset expected to start operating in 2028.

The company is also announcing its first investment in Japan, with the 100 MW/400 MWh Ako Battery project in the Kansai region. Neoen is collaborating with French company Equans and Japanese company Toho on this project. The notice to proceed is expected in coming months and the battery is scheduled to be operational in 2028.

Neoen’s storage capacity spans 7 countries (Australia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden and El Salvador), with 2.8 GW/8.1 GWh of batteries in operation or under construction.
